Miracle Grow | Spinal Flow

Updated: Jan 1

I LOVE hydrangeas.

But I hate to see them wilt days, sometimes even just hours, after I bring them home.

I will do everything in my power to infuse life back into them / their stem so they can have the potential to re-bloom and be the vibrant gift of life they were designed to be.

My approach to treating clients is actually very similar.

I strive to empower each and every client on how to heal themselves, and when they trust in the process, healing happens. In my work as a myofascial therapist, I am trained to find the pain and look elsewhere for the cause.

For the hydrangea, the cause is in the stem.

For my clients, it's often in their spine.

The stem of the hydrangea, where it has been cut, often becomes sticky creating a blockage which prevents the water to rise up to provide nourishment that is needed to enhance the bloom. Dissolving that blockage (by immersing the stem in hot water) will bring the bloom back to life. It's that simple, it just requires knowledge, action and patience during the process.

The first image of the hydrangeas below reflects the blockage being present. The second image is when the blockage was removed:

The spine of our body is where we store accumulated physical, chemical and emotional stress from life events. This sticky stress, from the events you once stored in the back of your mind, will eventually make its way to your spine. It could be a difficult birth, or that fall you didn’t think anything of at the time, or maybe childhood or adult trauma, the grief you never had time to fully process, or the medications you are taking, the processed foods you are consuming or perhaps,

... all of the above.

Regardless of the source, this stored stress inhibits the life force responsible for healing to happen, to flow throughout our body. Specifically, it prevents communication between the brain and spinal cord; the master-controller of every living cell, organ and system of our body.

What is the end-result of accumulated, unprocessed stress over time?

Pain

Dis-ease

Illness

Spinal blockages may present as:

  • Inability to focus, brain fog

  • Poor sleep

  • Lack of ease in joint mobility and in moving through life

  • Autoimmune disease

  • Breathing issues

  • Disc issues

  • Hip and knee pain

  • Headaches

  • Earaches or tinnitus

  • Sinus pain and difficulty swallowing

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Irritability

  • Chronic fatigue and/or fibromyalgia

  • Susceptibility to colds and flu

  • Stomach and other organ pain and/or dysfunction

  • Feeling too hot, too cold and hormone imbalances

  • Inability to digest food properly, bloating, tiredness after eating, and much, much more.

Essentially, any challenge in your health can be caused or influenced by a spinal blockage. Most health professionals are quick to treat the symptoms so, not surprisingly, the relief is slow to surface, if it comes at all.

Treating the petal of a wilted flower would be a waste of time but examining the health of the stem, or the condition of the soil, would reveal the root cause of the problem.

Did you know that our bodies have the innate wisdom and intelligence to heal themselves when we give it the time and the platform for it to do its thing?

Getting to the root cause, eliminating the suffering and supporting the body's innate ability to HEAL is what the Spinal Wave Technique is all about.

The Spinal Wave, another name for chi, love, spirit, soul, essence, innate intelligence and life force, is lying dormant inside all of us; natural healing energy that is blocked by the stresses stored over many years.

E-motion is energy in motion. Blocked energy will yield suffering.

As a soon-to-be-certified Spinal Wave Practitioner, I will help it grow so you can feel more in flow. It is my intention to access this energy and send it through your body via the spinal flow wave creating healing and vitality.

How do I do this?

I will determine where your blockages are, make gentle contact with one or more of the 33 Access Points, and then allow you/your body to take it from there. The Access Points are where the meninges (the 3-layered membrane that encloses the brain and spinal cord) are most accessible. The most outer layer is the dura mater and is highly vascularized with nerves. Light touch to an access point will stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, the nervous system that is responsible for rest and digest. The brain will work to find, identify, and release the blockage.

It's fast, effective and transformative and each client response and session will be unique. Combining myofascial release (MFR) and spinal flow technique (SFT) in a session can be very beneficial in achieving desired results over a faster period of time, as demonstrated below:

Green Shirt (1st/2nd images): baseline posture BEFORE and AFTER initial treatment.

Plaid Shirt (last image): posture after 2 mos of weekly treatments.

Many of us live day-to-day with our sympathetic nervous system being most dominant; the fight or flight mode is often the channel we tend to be on given either our general nature or the pace of our very busy lives. However, while remaining on this channel, stress hormones are rising, creating a perfect climate for dysregulation of the nervous system, which will lead to disease, pain and illness over time.

The good news is that we don’t have to stay on this channel.

In fact, it is critical we learn how to switch to the rest and digest channel (the parasympathetic nervous system) so we can FEEL into our bodies; feel what it is like to slow down and experience the flow of our natural energy nourishing our mind, body and spirit.

Too many people are afraid to feel, so they add layers of busyness to numb the pain.

Our life mirrors the force or flow state within us; if a stem of a flower is broken, it simply won't hold up or blossom. If your spine lacks flow, your life will lack flow. If your spine lacks flexibility, your life will lack flexibility.

It’s time to awaken the spine by unraveling the layers that have weighed heavily upon you over the years and begin to ...

  • Open your heart.

  • Release stored trauma, memory and pain.

  • Nourish the root of disconnect between our brain and spinal cord.

  • Return to your authentic, vibrant self.

My intention as Spinal Flow Practitioner is to elicit the innate wisdom of your body to do what it has to do. This, coupled with the action you take, will help g-r-o-w the miracle breath of life into your brilliant body and being.

Now,

Allow me to bring it into your reach.
